Revisit Civility

Let’s wipe the smirk off our face
And spare a thought for those who live in disgrace
Are we so blind that we can't see the pain in their eyes?
Or are we too selfish and uncaring to realize?
When a beggar knocks at our door..
Is it so hard for us to spare a buck or two even though we have much more...
When an old person is waiting to cross the street
Are we in such a hurry that we zoom past not letting him accomplish his feat
How can we turn a deaf ear to any being in pain?
How can we let our pride turn vain?
Where has the honesty in humility gone?
Where is all this hostility and conceit from?
Let’s open our hearts to those in need all around…
Let’s keep our thinking high and our egos ground
And watch the wheels of time turn favourable
As we leave the world with experiences that are indeed memorable

Just Another Day...

As the mysteries of the day unfold
It brings along stories that are untold
As time passes by
Some laughter’s live and some tears dry.
Some memories smile and some hopes die.
It may be the same old cliché...
But the fact is we are gifted with today...
A child of yesterdays and a parent to tomorrows...
We share with it some of our happiness and some of our sorrows
Yet, with every dusk a truth does dawn
That tomorrow may never come and yesterday is never gone...

HumANimal - IV

Treachery is what I thrive on
Rearing the poor soul as my own
Till he's fed well and ready to be meat
Every extra pound of his flesh is a treat
I watch him die painfully and slowly
I feel sad, treacherous and lowly
This is what I've always been
This is what I've always seen
This is the only job I know so well
Even though it leads me to hell
Now I can't break away
This is the only way my family lives today
All I can salvage of my grace is to sell and not eat
With all my kindness lost that's my only feat
But you have a choice to be more humane
Break free from being cruel and insane
With every person who turns over a new leaf
An innocent cow is saved from becoming beef
With every pound of innocent flesh less consumed
Humanity is reinstated and resumed
This is a vegetarian butcher's plea
Someday my profession will become extinct hopefully...

Dedicated to the spirit that strengthens each time the trust in humanity weakens and to those who acknowledge at least to themselves that they are wrong.
